I'm a little sceptical on this one. But a new airline called Skybus Airlines Inc. that is based in Columbus, Ohio is saying they will be offering $10.00, yes ten dollar, tickets for flights.
Starting today you can buy for ten bucks a one way ticket (online booking only) from Columbus to Burbank, California, Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Richmond, Virginia; and Kansas City and Missouri.
OK! What's the catch? They say they will have at least 10 seats available on these flights through Dec. 15. Of course, this doesn't include taxes or airport fees. They are starting out with 2 planes and not using the bigger airports due to congestion that can cause flight delays.
They plan on undercutting other airlines by selling space on the planes to advertise other companies such as on the outside of their planes and on just about everything on the inside as well such as trays, bathroom doors and on the food carts.
This is one of the first planes, logo covered by "Nationwide" insurance company. That's not overly comforting for some reason.
The rates seem to be pretty low even on the non-10 dollar flights. And you have to admit it would cut down on the drive to fly into a central location.
They plan on adding 70 more planes over the next five years to the company. And they will be also adding additional routes as the year progresses. Sounds interesting, if they can do it.

| this airline will die within a few years, because there is no way in hell that they are going to be able to afford, to lease or buy 70 planes, pay airport fees, and all that other crap. |

cut price airlines are doign very well for themselves in many parts of the world. They make income by getting you to book other travel items (cars and hotels) from their website, usually at a higher price than you would pay going directly tot the car company or hotels.
You're going to get hit with airport taxes whether you pay full fares or $10 for the flight, you just have to be aware of those taxes. |
