For me "rave" is really a state of mind. It's about a type of freedom and sense of adventure.
But here are a few things for people who haven't been to a rave
1) guv is in no way a rave
2) raves still happen, just not 20 0000 person massives
3) "rave" is still very much alive, it's just not where you are looking
For all those people who think underground parties don't happen anymore I'm very happy to say you are wrong. I went to an really great rave a few weeks ago. And, it didn't get busted.
Underground raves generally get busted from noise complaints so if it's a good venue then chances are it won't be busted. Also, if the cops do show up they generally just tell everyone to go home. Unless it's a break and enter...say bye bye to your equipment and hello to a fine to get it all back.
Bottom line, the cops arn't going to arrest 100-200 ravers, nor do they care to. I've been to plenty of underground raves and had no problems.
For those who care, I'm going to an underground rave in a few weeks. I predict an awesome night:D
hugs and PLUR

raves, mmmmmm they dont exist anymore. You know the ones where you got a note from a close friend telling you to meet a sketchy clown on the corner, you pop a balloon and there instructions to get to the dodgy looking warehouse where the door man asks you the password to walk in. The memories ........ |
In 2007:
note from a friend=blog entry
sketchy clown=sketchy raver with red hair (the guy at the map point)
balloon with instructions="map point": someone will walk you to the party
dodgy looking warehouse=dodgy looking warehouse
man at the door asking for password=raver with a flashlight telling you to have fun |

ROFL soo true.
Raves are not held in public clubs such as Guv. While most people label the eletronic music events at Guv as a "Rave" it is simply not. However, I can not deny it has a "Rave" like atmosphere but it is not a "Rave". While they do exist still, they are fading as time goes on simply because the scene has evolved from the Rave movement from when it was booming in the 90's. It has changed into a public environment as EDM as a whole has become more and more accepted worldwide. Raves are those underground partiers who have PLUR written all over them; the glowsticks, candy kids, psychadelic and funky coloured clothing and accessories, UFO pants; all held in an illegal abandoned underground warehouse where the location is never revealed until the night of... that... well that is what I call a rave. |
