Oh man, that is ing funny.
Funny because the church's leader is Korean. I'm Korean, and I'm a sushi chef. And I had no idea about this.
Side of irony, anybody?

I appreciate sushi but seeing as this is a non-sex Aristronica thread, it has no validity in being a thread...

i love sushi...not really a big sashimi person. i'll eat a little of it...but i feel like i'm eating a tongue...

Not a big fan of Japenese food, it's very dull regardless of how it's presented, then again a lot of sushi etc is made with fish which I hate. Kobi beefs good though but the price borders extortionate at times.

Well (aside from the original poster) it's good to see that everyone else knows that the pickled ginger is indeed only meant to cleanse your palette.

And if you're interested in being a sushi snob, here are the basics:

With sushi (= sashimi + nigiri [rice], not maki), never let the rice touch your soy sauce... you should be just gently brushing the fish part into the soy sauce.

With good sushi, wasabi is already mixed into the rice. Putting extra on is technically insulting to the chef.

Oh, and wasabi was never meant to be mixed into the soy sauce... don't do it.

And if you care about the more intricate details, well, you probably already know them don't you?...
Frenchie
Jesus, no wonder I don't eat it. All I want is a food that I can pick up and eat without having to fallow these so called rules.

Shenanigans .

why would they serve wasabi on the side at most places if it's considered an insult to the chef to put it on your sushi?
