Wow, what a diverse group. I just wanted to see where you guys were in your careers. I'm about to graduate from CSUN with a B.S. in Business Administration and I'm exploring all fields.

Basically, aim for something which won't 'dead end' you into a singular field and has plenty of outlets into other areas as best you can. I think we can safely say that there's very few 'jobs for life' in a modern day, western workplace any more.
Project management roles once you get some experience under your belt doing a few things for different companies should be something to aim for in your line of work. You'll start off small and then work your way into others with a few years and proven performance, if you end up somewhere for a few years and it's not going anywhere even though you're doing good at your job, make sure you go looking for something else.
Basically, don't get railroaded into just doing one thing, it's very bad for a career if you can't hop from one thing to another and be flexible.

Me, well I'm a property developer working for myself buying, selling and renting and I've got some part time work as a PA and Assistant GM for a large chain store's cosmetics department.

I sell high end home theater and am a project manager in that field.

going for a law degree with a focus on entertainment law.

Sweet. That's something I look forward to doing a bit down the line. Gotta get the cashflow properly sorted out first

I'm not saying it's not a good thing! :p

It just seems like tedious work. I'm not one for fine print. It's shady, and someone who knows the record companies tricks and fights for the rights of the artist is a good man!

I had to look that up. Sounds cool! How long you got left at Med School :p

@ med school? I'd sure like that... Haha. I'm about to apply to med school, actually.

However, I know that I want to be an ophthalmologist. I've known for years now.

My job got me at a very vulnerable time. Apparently they were looking for me a LONG time. Let me put it this way: The night i graduated they called me and offered me a job. No application has been submitted, no resume been posted on monster or any place like that. I think a job working at McDonalds was harder. No interview or anything like that. Within the first 2 mins of talking to the person they were talking about my salary and benefits. They didn't need to interview me, they already knew everything about me. That was kinda scary...but expected.

Okay man. That is just downright creepy as .

Oh yes, I've basically spent the better part of 10 years to finance it and working long, long hours, share trading, working in sales, sales coaching, modelling, beauty therapist and starting small, one brick at a time into assets as a basis for loans.
Anyone who thinks they can breeze through on happy thoughts and just a 9-5 job is living in a dream land. You must be smart and you must accept that you'll have to work harder and longer than anyone else... and guts, if you're a chickens**t who's scared of losing like the rest of the sheep that blindly follow trends without thinking, then you'll never get anywhere.
