i need the hugest most biggest possible favor one could ask....
i am coming up to toronto from may 13-20 (monday to monday)
i was wondering if any of you out there were willing to adopt me for a week. if its too big a burden maybe i can drop around a few of y'all. worst case, could anyone recommend me a cheap hotel/motel i could stay at that would be close to the US embassy
here's the reason for my trip:
i am an international student in the US and i just got authorized my visa change from h4 to f1, now i need to get the f1 stamp at an american embassy (outside of america) and my advisor recommended the toronto one. that kinda means that on top of the favor i need someone to shuttle me around until i settle that business (more like buracracy).... ill give you all more info if you like... plus worst case if im at a hotel close to it i can walk or take a taxi. also i now found out through your board here that dave seaman will be at the guv on may 19th, i definitly want to hit that up, so i'd love to join ya'll for that!
lastly would it make if i bring my brother along (he's 18, oh and btw im 20)? i found out that i can get 2 plane tickets for real cheap as opposed to a 1 person flight.
please leave a msg here, im checking very often, or email me at idan_anis@hotmail.com
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

the strathcona on York Street just south of Wellington here in Toronto is really cheap. Try to check it out.
The US embasy is just off of Simcoe street and is under a 10 minute cab ride from there.
Im sure if u need people to party with we will be around!
If your bro comes make sure he has a 19+ id or he cant get into anywhere.

Rent a room @ University of Toronto, it could be $20 a night for 2 beds (I remember McGill was that much last summer, so I'm just guessing it would be similar) and U of T is just a 5 min walk from the embassy.
BTW for visa authorization, you need only 1 day if you have a set appointment prior to your visit here, just so you know.
Izzy
brunette, thats an awsome idea, ill definitly look into that!
about the 1 day thing, its not so easy. what they told me over the phone is different. my apointment is at 9am on may 15th however i need a bank signature showing i paid the fees and they said the bank doesnt open till 9am meaning i have to come a day early for that. and since who knows how planes work i have to arrive a day before that (to make sure i dont arrive after its already closed) also i only get my visa the following day after the appointment in most cases. lastly in terms of plane tickets its MUCH cheaper to stay for a week.

does guv have a 19 y/o age limit? if so i think ill have to ask my brother to stay behind :p it'll be Izzy vs. Toronto, i heard vegas put it at half a point favor for toronto, although i smell the underdog will pull an upset
:)

You might want to check this place out too.
It's the Ryerson University residence right downtown and I believe not that far from the US Embassy (as in a couple of blocks!)

I'd check this place out first. I spent a whole summer coop there (3 months) and it was alright; no problems.
And being close to the embassy is a bonus too. Not to mention being right downtown Toronto!!
