Updating Virus Indigo 1 (Help!!)
View this Thread in Original format

Hi guys,

I just tried updating my Virus Indigo 1. I followed the instructions in the manual, everything was fine and the display told me that it had been updated successfully. So i powered it off & when i powered it on again it shows me the new OS version and then the display goes blank.

I'm really worried about this as i've already sold it off to someone & am supposed to ship it off in a couple of days!

I tried updating it again but its still the same problem, the display stays blank & it won't respond to anything or make any sounds..Help please!
Eric J
Have you tried updating it with an older OS version? I believe Access keeps old versions of the OS.
s-cube
Well the problem is everytime i power it on now the display is blank so i can't even manage to install any of the OS or do anything for that matter. This is pissing me off!
Eric J
Yeah, that sucks big time. It may be time to make a phone call to germany or google to see if there are any repair shops in your area.

Excellent this always has to happen to me! At first i didn't have the midi-breakout cable, took 3 weeks to get that & soon as i got it i only got to use it for half an hour before this happened!

Thanks anyway! Would appreciate it if anyone has experienced this same problem or knows a solution!
s-cube
Its a cable you use to connect your soundcard to hardware to send midi messages in & out.

I have just bought virus b and dont have that much erperience with the access family...but I do have a lot of experience with Waldorfs...and most waldorf synths have diagnostuc modes and stuff that let you boot them up to check stuff. Most of these modes are activated by pressing a single or multiple of buttons while you power the unit on...so I would check on the access forums and the web site trouble shooting to see what you can do. I'm sure its a known issue.

You could try a factory reset. On the Virus B/Classic it's hold LFO1 Shape while switching it on.

I don't think there's a diagnostic mode, not publicly known anyhow.

Thanks for the replies guys, i already tried the factory reset, didn't work!

I think maybe i ed up the flash ROM chip by turning it off while it was still writing..

Does anyone have a clue if this would be expensive to fix? Freaking access has still not replied to any of my mails so i don't even know where to send it for repairs..Going to give them a phone call if they don't respond by tomorrow..

I was planning on buying a TI after selling this Indigo but if this is how their customer support is they just lost a customer!

.

I reckon you should call them anyway first thing in the morning. Make sure you have the Virus by you at the phone. Saves the hassle of them saying 'try this' and 'try that' in successive e-mails until it's sorted.

I can almost guarantee this is what messed it up. Most of the equipment I have that has Flash ROM puts huge warnings about turning it off while writing to the flash memory.

Definitely give them a call, but you'll probably have to send it into them for repairs.

why would you turn it off while it was writing to the flash rom anyway?? When I do OS updates I pray to God while its happening that the power doesn't go off.
