Speaking of which, I'm in the market for a car... What's a used, cheap car that shouldn't fall apart too quickly?

The FD-platform RX7s were limited production - only 13,879 were sold worldwide, between '93-'95.

These cars their value very well - same as the '93-'98 Twin-turbo Supras.

Both of these cars were around $50K, brand new.

bluebook on this is 10-15k. but the guy isn't selling it for 5k thats just the current bid.

Expensive as hell to replace/repair when you crack it... and you will...

In other words, this engine has been blown up and rebuilt around the 71k miles mark!

ACT Stage four clutch, highest power pressure plate but still have a street disk
M2 light weight flywheel and new counter balance

Extreme pain to drive around town unless you have a bionic left leg

Blitz 1600cc secondaries(made by nippon denso)

Uses so much fuel it's scary, also quite pointless as he's not upgraded the fuel pump.

And all that together with no aftermarket engine management, fairly pointless
No dyno sheet
No service history

It's at best a 1/2 or 3/4 finished build and being a rotary, the nature of the engine and how it works just means you end up putting oil in it all the time, they burn a LOT of fuel and have the torque of a lawnmower at under 2000rpm, which makes them annoying to drive.

THat's the current value. I'm speaking of the value, brand new back then - get it right.
