He came here back in '04 or '05 and opened for John Digweed. The turnout of people from what I understand was lack-luster at best (I wasn't 21 at the time so was not able to attend).

Goddamn Minneapolis has no friggen' scene.

Should've gone to Chicago to the Spybar party!!! Driving for 8 hours to see Desyn is well ing worth it! :)

No, regrettably he hasn't stopped by Guatemala before, although I've been pushing him on some promoters here...I just might get my way! :D

Not sure what you mean here :conf:

P.s. Thanks for posting that.

Haha! Good thing I posted it then! ;)

Be sure to post details...we really want to know what stuff he's playing now :)

What I meant was, I'm sure there's more than one club in Guatemala, and let's say someone came to Gautemala for a performance, on the far side of the Country (from you), would you be able to commute from one end to the other without much difficulty? Or would you actually have to plan it out to make it to a particular show (like hotel arrangement or anything like that)?

I know, I kick myself constantly for this blunder. I wasn't aware he was in Chicago until it was too late. Me and my buddy Epdarks (another member on this site) would've been there in a heartbeat had we known he was going to be there ahead of time.

OH, I get it...but whenever a DJ comes to play in Guatemala (or any artist for that matter), they generally only play in the capital city, which is Guatemala City. There have been only 2 gigs on the beach, but that's during Easter week where we have the whole week off during the summer. Around the same time of the year as the WMC. The first one to play at the beach was Ferry Corsten, which was a free btw...only people with invitations were able to get in. It was awesome! The other one was DJ Dan. I'm trying to get Rowan Blades for next year's beach party...it would be unbelievable!

Speaking on playing in Toronto ... I forgot to give my report from the 25th of October.

So after the initial excitement subsided, the facts were: Desyn was playing at a midtown club in Toronto, meaning: more chic, less dance. Kahlua must have done their research and hired a group of professional dancers (and I'm not just defending my poor moves here :P) to motivate the crowd. It worked. Desyn started out with a couple of tracks that teetered towards tech, but eased his way into the uplifting style of house we all know him for. Lots of strings, sax funky basslines, and huge vocal teases. People were def moving by the end. I even have a pic of some 70 year old guy shaking his wrinkles!

There was a guy doing live visualizations - which was like having Milk Drop play with topical video clips super imposed on top. And there was a girl doing a small circus performance for part of the night. Good times. And all free!

I didn't hear about this event until after the fact. It mentioned being a night for the nightclub industry. Did you need special ID or tickets to get in??

Nope, you just walked up, whipped out your ID and they let you in. Even gave out some free glasses of Kahlua. I came prepared with guestlist, but they never even checked. I asked Desyn if he had plans to play a proper gig in Toronto soon, and he said he didn't know of anything in the books :(

Why didn't you tell me about this gig bro? :D

At least you had fun. I'm hoping he comes back sometime soon.
