Dont take the earring out. If it really is infected (which I dont think it is), then it will start to close up and continue to be infected except you wont be able to clean it as thoroughly as you would if you left the stud in.
Dont take it out. Keep cleaning. It will get better in a week. |

Youve got to clean it twice a day, make sure to rinse it thoroughly. And, as a piercer, I dont use anything but the orange Dial antibacterial soap that you can buy in Walmart in the pump bottle. Trust me. Twice a day and itll be better in a week. |

Safest option, you don't know if it's just a minor infection or an abscess from just him saying so, neither do I. So I just suggested that he take it out if it's really hurting him as I'd say it's the metal in the stud that's doing it and see a doctor.
Normally it's fine and will heal without any antibiotics or extra cleaning (stay away from alcohol based ones), worst case they debride the area and that won't be much fun. |
