I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but most dance music is solely engineered for club systems... |

| Fact: most people at clubs have taste. Imo its up to us DJs to serve them better. |

No disagreement there, but I do think it also has a lot to do with who's playing it.
And I spend far more time outside of clubs listening to EDM than I do in them, so I guess my view will always be skewed. |

lol, still - I spend far more time listening to sets, singles, etc. in the car, and at home in the headphones while I'm doing work than I do at a club - hence those being my frame of reference for thoughts on music.
I rarely go out to a club after listening to something I listened to at home and even notice the track unless it was something that resonated with me.
There's definitely a disconnect somewhere in there. |

Neither do I. I go out, but mostly (and I'm working on this) to see DJs I like.
And I've found something that you often say to be very true, especially recently with some very mediocre sets I've seen from big DJs who used to amaze me.
"Good music sounds ING good in the club"
But nobody's playing good music anymore... :( |

Nah, they're out there - the more important thing is that I think with the shear amount of music that's out there right now, it's a lot easier to say "Well, this will sound epic in a club, so whatever, I'll take it and it will work" as opposed to really, really taking the time to dig through music and find the truly good stuff that's out there.
There is definitely a sense of "If it's good enough for the masses, it's good enough for me" with a LOT of big name DJ's out there, and not just the usual popstar suspects either - at all levels, and in all genres, and even some legends are guilty as sin.
But it's still out there, and though the effort needed to find it may change, the fact of the matter is that there will always be both good and bad music out there. :) |

| Thats why I feel like I should mostly play music I want to hear and stop thinking of the people listening so much. |

i agree with the comments about dirtybird
these three all doing a track together, of course there will be huge expectations, i'm disappointed. i think it's a pretty poor track, decent floor-filler but nothing much else |
