Hey,
My mom's looking to upload a bunch of her old vinyls from Russia so that she could place them on CD.
What equipment do I need for this?
Thanks. |

Turntable and RCA to USB converter with some recording software. Example: free Cubase Lite or smth.
sorry - may be a bit of an overkill but should give some decent pro results.
I got my turntable running through bona-fide mixer via ADAT interface into my RME HDSP card, recording to Sony Acid 8. :D |

| Record player (obviously), if it has a phono output (most likely) you'll need to run it into an amp's phono-in and then from the amp's line-out to the sound card's line-in on the computer. Then you'll need a recording program, play the record, hit record. |

| Oh, you can also get an RCA to mic-in cable, run it into your SB and record. It may be a bit noisy, depending on a card. |

Acid 6 or sound forge 8?
Bit of a difference. |

What say one replaces the 'amp' with a 'mixer'?
Or is it the same, in this case? |

Would work as well. Possibly a better choice because you have more control with the EQ although you would probably want to leave the frequencies flat. Just run some RCAs from the mixer's output to the line-in on the soundcard. |

Any recommendations on specific wire brands? |

i don't think you'll be able to tell the brand of wire over the crackle and pop of the record :stongue: |
