Americans create their own royalty, that is what celebrities are in this country.
And there are a lot of people who look at Queen Elizabeth as an admirable figure because of how she has carried herself with dignity over the last 50+ years. She has been a central figure on the world stage for more than half a century.
People wait in line for the autograph of all kinds of people, yet I don't see anyone calling them stupid here. Sports figures, musicians, movie stars, and even some politicians are treated with a lot more adoration than she is but again no one is considering that to be wrong or un-american here.

The funny thing is is that the only nationality to respect the Royal Family are Americans - so what does that say about American?
In fact, when the debate turns to whether we should have a Royal Family or not, the major argument for keeping them is the amount of money our economy makes from American tourists who come here because they actually think they will meet the Queen they really are that stupid! |

What I should have said is:
Americans might care about royal families while their people don't care about them. But those people are the only ones who care about Americans and the Americans on the other hand. Don't care about you. |
