I think it counts for something, if they are looking for upcoming talent.
If you can't bring a crowd as a local dj, you simply wont get booked in this city. |

This depends on whether the competition is about a DJ's technical skills, or a DJ's marketing skills.
Because if a DJ sucks, but has all his friends cheer for him and that wins him the cake, that's kind of a sad joke |

I know the registration fee sucks (I'm not part of that), but it is worth going if you want to make some connections. Of course what you put into it you'll get out of it but it served me quite well. And thanks Jeff, you're right. At first I thought the same thing about crowd pull but really, who's going to book you if you can't bring a single person to come to the venue you're playing at?
Oh and no it's both. I won't stand for bad djs winning no matter how many people they bring. Although if there are 2 djs quite close to eachother and one brings 20 people and the other brings his girlfriend, it's obvious which of them is more serious about djing and marketing themselves as an artist (which is what it's all about). |
