Promoting yourself
View this Thread in Original format
Dj Deltawye
Hey everybody,

I was wondering what is the best way to promote yourself as a dj in Toronto. I would like to spin at some parties, big or small, doesn't matter. I know in Toronto its really hard to get recognized, and i just want to hand out my sets, which I have nicely recorded on cd's. I spin Hard Trance and Hardstyle.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them, or if you are a promoter, you want to listen to some good sets?

I know that many dj's are turning to other genres, ie: shranz, munggle etc. Trance in this city is dying slowly, and I have always loved trance, I just want to help keep it alive, and YES there is still a loyal following for trance, actually I spin HARD trance. And Hardstyle is becoming very popular to spin at parties.
Maybe thats what the problem is in this city, everybody is looking for something new ... but remember trance will never die!! , and Hardstyle is getting bigger and bigger.

Now can somebody please answer my original question.

i havent really seen many hardstyle events in the city and when they do happen, it pulls in like 80 people. i dont exactly consider that to be big. trance and house is definitely what toronto prefers.

I actually have no idea what Munggle sounds like, but there are a few dj's in and around Toronto that spin it. Shranz is kinda like Hard hard trance, check out samples on Bangingtunes.com

C.O. thanks for fixing my arse, lol

In general, I would tell you to support other people's events with enthusiasm, introduce yourself and just get to know people.

Throwing your own parties is always a sure way to get to play too.

The genre you spin is such a niche market here though that I won't lie...it will be difficult.
