~TonyMcGuinness was marketing director and latterly dance A&R for Warner Music Group. He worked as A&R for William Orbit, Hysteric Ego Label, and Podium Dancer, a dance agency based in the UK. While working at Warners, McGuinness shifted away from alternative rock towards electronic dance music.
Tony McGuinness and his brother Liam teamed up to create electronic dance music under the alias Nitromethane since the early 2000s, but the tracks were never released. While working at Warner, Tony was asked to remix Chakra's "Home" by an A&R colleague.
Nitromethane then approached Anjunabeats (Jonathan "Jono" Grant and Paavo "P.O.S." Siljamäki) for an experimental collaboration. The result, the remix of "Home", was an instant hit, ruling the dance floors and topping the charts for many weeks. The collaboration led to the creation of Above & Beyond, consisting of McGuinness, Grant, and Siljamäki.
