boycotting Mother's Day

ok, as if i need to give you guys any more of a reason to think i'm a nonconformist, i just thought this was interesting...

so what do you guys think? it's crazy to me that the woman who invented the holiday spent her entire savings basically fighting against what the holiday had become. personally i'd rather honor the holiday as Jarvis intended it to be, and not send my mom a cheesy Hallmark card or flowers. granted i'll still call her and tell her i love her... but after knowing how hard Jarvis fought, i think it's a little wrong to buy into the commercialism of the holiday. |

Meh - any of these holidays are what you make of them.
If you buy into the commercial aspect of any of them, it's your own fault.
On the other hand, if you take it as an opportunity to make sure your mom knows you genuinely care for her, whether it be by phone call, letter, whatever - I think it's great.
As long as you don't think "Mothers Day" really means "buy something cheap as a bull gesture that you love your mommy day," I think it's all good  |

that's basically the Festivus equivalent for Mother's day. |

W/e, I still buy my mom crap.
I mean I don't need to, I pretty much tell her and show her everyday that I lovevher.
It'll take longer to get people to STOP buying into it than getting them to know the tru importance fo Monther's day. |
