in general in a trance tune, what is laid down first?
are the vocals laid down, and the music made around it?
or the music made first, and vocalist sings around it? |

| Music first, usually. That's why the vocals tend to be so ridiculously generic. |

Vocals are so wrong sometimes.
I dont like that many vocal tracks, they have to be of sheer quality for me to like them. ie Everytime, Skydive, Pearl River.
Prime example. 4 Strings slapped a vocal on the brilliant instrumentals of 'Into the Night and 'Diving' and made them sound hideous. In an sorry attempt to make them commercially viable. |

theres no general formula for this ....
it all depends on what the producer is used to .. or prefers....

Sad thing is, it worked remarkably well. |
