beatmatching 2 channels together in headphones

So, is it cheating to do your beatmatching with both channels in your phones. I find it much more difficult matching as tight when i've got one ear in my headphones (cued track) and the other on the monitors (playing track)

Absolutely, no one should EVER use the headphones to beatmatch two tunes together. As a matter of fact, you are breaking the DJ code by even using them in the first place.........

Whichever works best for you! I usually beatmatch with one on and one off the ear and then for minor adjustments listen to both tracks at the same time in the phones.

i don't have stands for my monitors, so i never really use them even as they're so low. and i've got my amp in another room aswell so controlling the volume of my monitors is a bitch. so therefore i mix only in the headphones every time i mix. i should really get stands for my monitors though and an amp in my bedroom for them so i could try mixing with the one ear method. altho i'm mixing just for my own enjoyment and i will never play out anywhere most likely. anyway i'd like to try mixing with monitors.

If i were to ever play out is there any scenario where a mixer wouldn't have that function? like, say you couldnt mix the channels in your phones, only select which single channel to listen to in your phones.

Be ready for anything when you play out in other clubs/venues!

Sure, there is a possibility of that happening (I've had to use a Gemini mixer like that) but somehow nowadays it seems very, very unlikely.
