Hi Guys
I'm wondering if anyone has built their own custom midi controller? And not some tacky piece of junk that is a couple of buttons, a proper piece of equipment, the bigger and more complicated the better.
Thanks in advance :) |

Google for "midibox"... there are people out there doing it.
Just realize that:
1. It's not quick
2. It's not easy
3. It's not cheap |

Agreed. However there is a new product which should make it easier - Doepfer USB64 board has most of the electronics and I think all the user needs to do is add their own control pots, faders, switches etc and put it in a box. BTW Doepfer makes some of the main components that are in one of Richie Hawtin's controllers.

Also check http://ucapps.de for more info on homebrew midi boxes.
None of the completely built units currently available are exactly what I want, but if I tried to build one myself with the USB64 board it would still be quite a big project and by the time it's finished some company might have come out with a better unit for less cost. |
