Good clubs that play Trance/House

| My friend and I are coming up from Tampa, FL to NYC for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday at the end of July. Can anyone suggest any good clubs that play good trance or house music? I don't see too many parties on the planner except for Tiesto on the 19th and 20th. We've seen him to death so we'd actually prefer to just go to a nice club to enjoy good music and friendly crowd. I used to live in Brooklyn about 5 years ago so I'm somewhat familiar with the area. However, I don't recognize any of the clubs anymore except for Webster Hall. I liked Club Exit and Sound Factory when they existed. We also like clubs like Space, Nocturnal, and Opium Garden (South Beach/Miami clubs). So any club like that or along those lines is what we're looking for. I was hoping to finally get to experience Avalon, previously Limelight but I see that it's no longer. In the meantime, I'll read up on some of the clubs listed here. Thank you! |

| it seems you want larger clubs, based on your description, so pacha or studio would be your best bets. For a smaller club, Love and Sullivan room are my (and others) favs. |

PACHA = the old Sound Factory wwww.pachanyc.com
Studio/Mezmor (used to be Crobar NYC) = 28th between 10 and 11th (a block off where Twilo used to be) <-- trance/house/edm acts.
I would RECOMMEND Cielo as well on Little West 12th Street (meatpacking district) near the former Filter14; great sound, great vibe, a GREAT compromise between the BIG megaclubs and small unpretentious ones -- stylish with pretty people YET small venue vibe and great sound. QUITE NICE.
i remember Nocturnal fondly..:) such a great place. |

Venue wise... I've liked Studio Mezmor the best. I haven't been everywhere.. yet ;) but I can see a resemblance of the Crobar Miami.
