they will be performing a live set with all 4 members of the band outside at the lounge.

Dallas, Texas event masterminds Fire are bringing Israeli psy-trance legends Infected Mushroom to town on Saturday, August 4th for a multi-venue marathon of banging beats, endless drinks, and ecstatic electronic delirium. The first leg of this unforgettable bacchanalia sprawl runs from nine PM until four AM at the Lizard Lounge, where they'll be supported by Fire Outrage. From there Mushroomheads will caravan over to The Clubhouse, as part of Fire's Insomnia Encore series. Each of the Mushrooms (Duvdev and Erez) will be spinning DJ sets, as will the similarly exotically named DJs, Raydar & Shaolin, Ragman, and Andy Szontagh. This second dose of mind-melting music kicks in at four AM and lasts until nine AM, so prepare to tune in, drop out, and rave on till way past the break of dawn, etc. Attendees are guaranteed to see colors and taste sound.
Infected Mushroom's main spores, Erez Aizen and Amit Duvdevani, both grew up steeped in musical training in their shared hometown of Haifa. Aizen bored of his organ/piano lessons when he discovered computerized music, and by the age of 18, he'd already released three psy-trance albums (how many others can make such a claim?). Duvdevani, the older of the two, similarly took piano lessons, although his initial deviation was as a keyboardist/songwriter for Enzyme, a Haifa punk rock band. In 1991, however, he went to his first trance party. The experience was life-altering. After serving a brief stint in the Israeli army, he spent a year in Goa (in India), and then returned home, primed to launch his artistic career.
1998 was the year the duo first began playing together. They chose the name Infected Mushroom in deference to a defunct punk rock band of the same name, whom Duvdevani had loved (and actually played with, in the early 90s). The Gathering was their breakthrough album, and it found many fans among those who favored the darker realms of trance. But it was Classical Mushroom that cemented their reputation as psy-trance masters, showcased most explosively in the electronic wizardry of their biggest club single, “Bust A Move.” To their own credit (and their die-hard fans' chagrin), however, they have continued to musically explore and have refused to repeat themselves. In 2004, they even relocated from Haifa to LA, although Hollywood's eternal sunshine hasn't created a spotless mind. The Mushroom is still infected. |
