Blade 2 Soundtrack....

I'm basically posting this in response to all those who have said they hated hip-hop music and it is nothing, and all that.

This is the lineup for the Blade 2 soundtrack. I havn't heard a bad song off of it! The Moby/Mystikal & the Oakey/Cube collabs are in' incredible.

Just wanted to see what you guys thought about this merging of techno/trance and hip-hop.

Mystikal and Moby
Mos Def and Massive Attack
Redman and Gorillaz
Cypress Hill and Roni Size
Ice Cube and Paul Oakenfold
Busta Rhymes, Silkk The Shocker and The Dub Pistols
Eve and Basement Jaxx
Bubba Sparxxx and The Crystal Method
Jadakiss, Fabolous and Danny Saber
Trina, Rah-Digga and Groove Armada

I think this soundtrack is going to help break newe ground for trance music, not to mention perhaps start an entirely new genre, but I could be overestimating it's power, since I love the tracks so. :shrugs:

IM a big oakey fan but this collab with ice cube is garbage...

Well, it's not traditional trance or traditional hiphop.

You might have to appreciate both genres, like me, to like this music.

I just thought it was an original idea, which they executed quite well, considering it's never been done before
tranceaholic
i am also a huge oakie fan and i thought the song with ice cube was gonna be cool however i listened to it and it was crap all i can say is " What the is that ".
Flec
i loved this album!!! almost every song is great in my opinion, and i also agree that you definitly have to enjoy and respect both genres to appreciate this album.

you cant expect to hear pure trance from oakie when ice cube is rapping DUH.

are you sure you arent just convincing yourself its not crap in an attempt to 'appreciate both genres'?

i like trance, i like hip hop - but that doenst mean i like the bastardization of both so that they work together. i guess its a good idea - i prolly COULD be pulled off, just look at some of the hip hop/rrock/electronic hybrid songs that the Neptunes have on their album. it just WASNT done right here.

its not traditional anything. its the stupification of one genre so that it accepts another stupified form of music. stop kidding yourself.

i guarantee just listening to those artists alone i.e. just hiphop or just trance is 100x better - so how does that make this cd any good.

besides this should be in the cd reviews(maybe). its not reviewing anything/

what?
yeah and i cant hear pure ice cube rap over oakey! whats your point...listen to JUST Ice Cube or listen to JUST Oakey...damn

^^^Chill, lol.

I just thought it was an original idea, and that considering it's never been done before, it's pretty straight. Both artists had to do some compromising to make this work, and that elevated the skill levels of both artists involved.

Who else liked/didn't like this one?

If you didnt like it, maybe you are listening to it wrong:

1) Roll some J's, grab a friend, and polish em off.
2) get in the car
3) put the CD in, and turn it up.
4) drive.

As far as appreciating both genres.. I have gone through the rap mood a couple times, havent listened to much of it lately cause of trance. however, this CD is some good stuff. It isnt trying to be trance, or rap. Just appreciate it for what it is. Just because you may not like country doesnt mean it sucks. Obviously it has the fan base it does for a reason (havent figured that part out yet). Plus, anything that happens to distract from oak may be a blessing in disguise. Who knows where it may lead. Look at some of the early trance and techno songs.. nuff said.
