help with uploading wavs

ok so i'm really confused about how to do this.
i just recorded this song i really need ID'd but it's a wav file and it's too large.
i don't know how to get it into mp3 format or make it smaller...
the software thingy that the forum gives me was weird, i didn't get it.

If time is of the essence, then use dam00r's method.
BUT for *any* poster's benefit, to maximize your target audience
(= your own chances of success for an ID), you're far better off
compressing your wav samples into small & downloadable mp3s !!!
This is precisely why I bypass YouTube clips, 10 MB sendspace clips,
et al.. Maybe I can ID some, but nobody'll ever find out ...
Anyway, I use Audacity (it's free). You can get it at
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
