Lately I've noticed there seems to be a fair amount of creatively minded ppl in cor. I'm redesigning a project I did last year for my public display, and I'd like ppl's opinions on it. Heres what I've done so far:

It's a portfolio site for a book designer. The window with the gif will be animated.

I like it. Creative and clean.

I like the john morgan logo, what will the other pages (ones with text) look like? seems like the content part would be harder to put text in, but it works fine with a gif. I am guessing have a bigger 'painted' background and then have a white background text box in the middle of it.

I was perhaps thinking the red logo will stay as a banner throughout, while the black 'splash' will only be on the homepage, I haven't thought about how I will display the content, I'm really trying to get the theme of the site right first

Looks good to me, especially the logo. The fact that it's simple works as well.

i'd hit it.

white space in the logo is too big in my opinion

the picture doesn't blend seamlessly into the black overlaying visual at the bottom.

It's a great start but needs some touching up and work on more annoying details.

/indesign/illustrator overload....been doing tons of crazy design the last weeks but I am finally getting serious about indesign woohoo

logo and navigation look good. i like how clean and simple the page is.

the area below that definitely needs some tweaking though. the white box on the black area just looks like it's been plopped on top of the design. maybe make it more enclosed inside the black area? or play with the sizing/shape of it? it's hard to explain what looks off... but i think with a bit of time and tweaking, it could look a lot nicer.

I'd pretty much echo the keeping it simple idea. I need something I can read and too much = tacky.

The content area (if indeed that is what it is) is a bit small in my opinion.

I dislike websites that cram all of the content into a small space (vertically). At least let it scroll downward, rather than limiting the viewing area.

What is the 'login' link for? If it's for you to log into the administrative portion of the site, it serves no purpose for anyone besides you (or admins).

Otherwise, nice clean and simple, but the whitespace seems to be a bit overwhelming (although it does make the red and black areas stand out more).
