He believed that he had to die in order to save Claire and the baby. Some sort of self sacrifice. What I think is this is a test of Charlie's faith, call it self sacrifice(think Abraham and Binding of Isaac). Charlie may return in the future. ;)

yea i realized that but i think it was a bit far fetched because the signal was already off and they had scuba gear.

LOST season finale - I have mixed feelings about it.

I loved that Charlie died and I hope he stays dead because it was a beautiful scene of his accepting his life and his mistakes, learning to love himself and others... for this, the island allows you to die as you are supposed to.

I HATED that they got off the island, but my friend suggested that perhaps they didn't and that was a portrayal of how their lives *would be* IF they were to take Naomi's boat and leave.

i loved the Heroes season 1 overall so i liked the season finale. It DID seem like it was wrapped up quickly though and there was no real ultimate showdown (i wish they had done a two hour finale and NOT just a regular one hour :( ) regardless, it was good and i teared at it, esp. thinking of Peter and Nathan. (but i dont think Peter is dead though? cuz in the episode "Five Years Forward" he is still alive despite exploding?

also....umm sylar died...and yet he wasn't on the ground in the final scene?!! (is this their solution of leaving it openended).

ok LOST has been on and off this WHOLE season...more exciting in the past two weeks...and THEN...last night it was like BOOM! a TOTAL turnaround...it blew me away like WTFFF?!~~

i didnt get it. but the explanation in the post above makes sense...it made me sad to see Jack in that state tho. And then, Charlie would have died for nothing (unless that was also part of the WHAT IF)

did anyone listen to the LOST podcast for the explanation to this?! Did they say Charlie was off the show for good?!
