| Had one, well 2, where I "died" and they "brought me back". It happens, you're going to die. I wouldn't let it get to me and live in fear of death, that's pointless. |

doesn't your brain produce dmt when you are ABOUT to die or is it in the PROCESS of dying?

I don't know, as I can't imagine what the situation would be like - but I'd hope that I'd feel some sadness for friends who were loss, and that's it.
No reason at all to dwell on the "could have beens" in life, good or bad. |

i considered titling this thread without the "near-", but that'd be even less accurate.
most of the people around here don't utilize the topic field even remotely as the field for the topic, at least give me credit for trying. |

| You could change it to "Brushes with death". |

Meh - those of us with at least half a brain made the connection and understood you anyway.
Everyone else is either an idiot or a mindless nitpicker with nothing better to do - and you don't want to pander to them now, do you?

| i was in a plane that almost crashed about 4 years ago, it was a smaller plane and it was the last fight of the night, there was a really bad storm that just rolled in and the sky was black. i couldn't believe that the flight was still scheduled to take off. So i boarded the plane with my parents and the plane took off, within a minute the plane started shaking violently and some alarms went off, the cockpit was exposed so we could see the pilots and they started freaking out, one yelled "OH !" while they were flipping switches and stuff and i looked out the window and there was lighting right by the window. I had cuts on my hips from the seatbelt (thats how bad the plane was bumping around) and i put my head down by my knees and sweat started dripping off my forehead. I looked over by my mum and she was crying and then she started throwing up. I felt really bad for her. Needless to say, the plane was able to correct itself and our 45min flight took 3 hours to get around the rest of the storm. When we got home my mum wouldn't get out of bed for 3 days. I was never a big fan of flying because i'm scared of heights, but now i really don't like it. I refuse to fly in a small aircraft again. I was fine when i got home though, just thought we were pretty lucky and glad my mum was ok. |

in 2003, a bus i was supposed to be on - had i stayed for my entire school day - exploded by a suicide bomber, everyone on it died.
my verbal reaction was telling my mom: see? it's a good thing i skip school.
my emotional reaction was basically indifference.
edit: oh, almost forgot, you also get to see the monument to the people who died nearly every time you go out, since it stands near a major intersection. | You should martyr yourself by blowing yourself up on a bus full of Palestinians with an explosive dildo. |

ive had it happen a number of times. Its usually not an impact because its hard to comprehend what actually would have happened other than a movie scene playing in your head.
You have no frame of reference for imagining falling off a cliff or what the bends feels like so its a pretty boring "this almost happened"
The near death stuff that was "one step and a bus woulda hit me but im actually 100% ok" is different than a "I got shot 9 times and the tenth grazed my ear but then my heart stopped and it took them 3 hours to resuscitate me and then it got infected and and I almost died because it was resistant to penicillin"
Ive never had a point where my body was so destroyed it was near death so I dont know how that feels either :D |
