JP-8000 Saving Question

Okay so I just connected the jp-8000 to the comp thru midi and in cubase i recorded a set of notes. Now i opened another midi channel so i can create another instrument sound with the jp, but when i change the patch on the jp, they both change (even though i want the first channel i recorded to stay with the first jp synth sound i have)...how can i do this? basically, i think the answer to this question lies in "how do i record the notes with a desired synth sound off the jp?"

AFAIK, the JP isn't really a multitimbral synth, which means it'll only play one sound at a time. There are a couple ways around that, however. One way is to change the key mode to 'Split', so that two different patches are available above and below Middle-C. The other (and easier) way is to simply record audio from the JP into cubase, then that will free up the MIDI bus for other sounds.
