If they get an hourly wage that isnt below minimum wage, then I dont tip. In America I tip waiters and waitress and bar people (but not every drink). In Australia, nothing. The minumum wage is more than enough and to be honest the service kind of sucks compared to American service.

i still don't understand why you would even get tips? it's your job to make coffee and give it to me. me not returning it and saying, "this coffee sucks" should be tip enough :D
But they call themselves "Baristas", with such a fancy name you really should tip.

She caught an attitude and told me never to order another drink from her again.

What kind of a waitress is that? Such a bitchy attitude. I'd report her to her employer.
Her job is to serve you drinks, but it isn't yours to tip her. Tipping is not a rule, nor obligatory.

Edit: Question for you American people, out of curiosity... What's an average beer price in stores/bars/clubs?

oh and bathroom attendants. i'm not paying you to hand me a paper towl because you took them all out of the dispenser.

Now wait a tick.....aren't they working for Salvation Army?

Even though I do like to tip generously, the tip jar at Starbucks kind of infuriates me.

Tipping at a CLUB?! Wtf?!

For me that's as big of a cultural clash as if you said over there women all wear flashing pink burkhas to the clubs. How can you even have the time to say "you can keep the exchange" when you're paying for the drinks of 6 people, there's 3 guys to each of your sides waving their cash and shouting "HEY I'VE BEEN HERE FOR 40 MINUTES I WANT MY BEER", there's 10 guys behind you ramming you from behind in a very homossexual way, and you still have to figure out a way of bringing back those 12 drinks to the 6 people that are waiting back there?
