These sets are far better than what I am hearing from most other trance DJs.
Guys, there is one sure way to tell if you are listening to an Oakey live set, or just a set for the radio. When he mixes live, at a show, he loves to mix in a few bars of the next track, over top of the current track. If you know the songs really well you can hear the beat, or if you are watching, its his patented knob/whole body/twist.
Also, he always plays with more intensity, and anxiety in a live set. If it sounds laid back, it was done for radio, if it sounds up beat and energetic, its live. I think these sets are a combo of some recorded at a club, some at in a studio.
Also, his mixing is really that good when he wants it to be. Every time he is in Toronto, I pay very close attention to his mixing, and he is very good. He always tries in this city, and I have seen him 10+ times now here. He has the skills, whether he uses them or not, is a different story.
Could not agree with you more. So regarldess of if its a real mix or not, the tunes are great. |

phrase - refers to matching up the measures of beats appropriately so that the individual tracks break or hit at the same time. basically, it's all about knowing your tracks and timing. |

lol i think i know what one you're talking about. was #3 like a benassi tune and he closed with ressurection?
that was the worst thing i have ever heard. i seriously think he forgot his headphones at the hotel room for that one. the scary thing is the crowd was really digging it. |

| Number 2, 4, and 7 seem to be real gems in this set. By far my favorite tunes in this set. #1 from 24 is a top flight tune as well. Wish we could get some of these ID'd. I have spent a lot of time listening to samples on beatport and juno.co.uk - Can't find crap. |
