Twangy trance vs. lots of background trance noise

What do you prefer, really crisp sounding paul van dyk style trance that has a clear, metallic sounding beat, a metallic sounding main tune thing and background twanginess or Armin van Buuren type stuff like with the background wash of fuzzy, loud trance wash noise with a muddier, less clear tune? know what I mean?

u seem biased in your post...i myself see things the other way around.

hmm what ur saying is strange, because pvd and armin and much diference, in fact most good trance has lots of layers and has a solid sound to it, whereas stuff like castles in the skay is jabby and doesnt have much to it, which is one of my rules of cheesiness... if it twangs its cheese.

Oh, no I didn't mean to sound like I was saying something bad about pvd and good about avb, pvd has lots of complex sounds as well, but they are more distinguishable from each other, you can tell each one apart...

AvB (and generally other Dutch producers even though he has his own sound) usually have long, sweeping synths. PvD has a different kind of synth sound (hard to describe...it hits at points??). I see what you are saying here:

AvB style synths vs. PvD style.:D
Examples: 'AvB (Perpetuous Dreamer) - Sound of Goodbye' vs. 'Paul van Dyk - Another Way'

I like both, too hard to decide between.

I like synth with some BEEF!!! unless it's just plain beautiful.

PvD's synths are weak imo.
