hardly any of these are ambient music at all

it's an actual type of music, not just a description

yeah, i know the one i picked was more chillout-ish but i figured i'd suggest something similar. it wasn't that far off...

you guys suggested that these tracks were not ambient so why don't you two suggest an ambient track instead of just posting to tell ta that they are not ambient, lol? i would have at least commented on theact they were not ambient if i felt so and THEN suggested a more appropriate track...

hey, what do you know... you did make a suggestion! i thought that other one was your first post in here. my apologies to you...

Noisician
dennis bestafka's slovaki audio side-project: bell · drum · swim · tock · bird · soux

also most of robert fripp's solo stuff.

and, yes, explosions in the sky will work too. as well as hammock.

Absolutely, Hammock and Explosions are amazing! So yeah go for...

Explosions in the Sky
Hammock
Labradford (A Stable Reference and Mi Media Naranja and two of the best ambient albums that ever existed. And yes they are mainly made by lush delayed quitars. Quite dark at times though)
Windy and Carl
Sigur Ros
The Album Leaf
Lanterna
Tristeza
Helios
Port-Royal
Yellow6
Stars of the Lid
Lycia
some stuff by M83.
soem stuff by Caspian

The sample is quite weird though. Some stuff by Windy and Carl, Labradford, Yellow6 and Stars of the Lid is close to it. If you want more "medieval sounds" then perhaps you should go check the first albums by Dead Can Dance like "Spleen and Ideal". You will be blown by the medieval-type quitar-music they used to play! Ethereal bands like "Love Spirals Downwards", especially their first album called "Idylls", also bands like Ataraxia, Stoa, Mira...these have a more medieval, "ancient-like" feel to it.

Here is a link for Lanterna. They play some amazing quitar-driven lush ambient music. Listen to "Last Practive" and find yourself lost somewhere...

All the reccomendations are good though!
