Sidechaining on Macs

I've used the search previously and even asked about this in the sidechaining thread with no responses. I've searched hard for any VSTs or AU's for an Intel Mac that are capable of side chain compression sidechained gain ducking.
Basically the only thing i found was the PSP Audioware MasterComp but i'd like to see if there are any universal binary free or cheaper alternatives out there.
Any input would be great, thanks.

on one machine i have cubase SX3 and on the other im using ableton live (more quick arranging during preproduction)
edit: forgot to mention, I had already looked at Sidekick among all the other VST's listed in the sidechain thread and sidekick is for PC, I'm looking for a universal binary AU or vst for Mac...
it's just suprising, no one seems to know of any sidechain capable compressors for mac? i just really don't want to dish out for the PSP series, i'd rather spend money on something cheaper...thanks for your time however.
anyone else?
second edit:
Lolo, thanks! I thought you were sarcastic at first but after doing some research using autopan is actually an amazing effect.
For Cubase, however I've found a temporary solution...a compressor called DualComp, it's not hosted anymore but I have found a copy of hte beta if anyone would like.
Other than PSP and Neodynium, there seem to be no free or cheap sidechain vst's for Mac's (universal binary). It does, however look like there are projects in development for universal binary...guess there's more attention.
Anyways just for the record (for anyone using the forum search) the following look liek the only current options for sidechain compression on an Intel Mac:
-Ableton live's Comp II (eq base sidechain, very weak)...Autopan trick
-PSP Mastercomp, Neodynium, other commercial compressors
-DualComp (thank goodness!) |
