| so wanted to go to this but by the time we got back from vegas, and well, it was vegas and you know how you feel when you get back from there. glad to hear it was a great set!!! i hope he comes back around soon |

Armin (DJ R-Man) played a ing phenomenal set. His mixing and track progression was spot on -- and his effects usage (filters, phaser, etc.) was so on beat. R-Man dropped Pryda - Rymd, and I just lost control. He was even playing minimal techno which really threw me off, but a good way. :) When Jody came on, he seemed to have trouble transitioning from R-Man's last track... and had some train wrecks here and there (quite a few, actually). I guess he wasn't used to something in the setup because he looked uncomfortable, and it really showed up in his mixing. I know his mixing is pretty spot on for the most part, but something was off last night. And from a non-technical standpoint, Jody played some dope ch00ns, lots of mellow progressive, melodic house, funkier and tougher stuff as well. He closed with his remix of Nostalgia which was one of the reasons why I went, to hear that live. Musically I thought last night was top notch, R-Man really was the best part of the night for me, though.
They moved the speaker setup near the main entrance, facing the dancefloor, so there's a lot more room to dance. Crowd was chill, plenty of room to chill out on the couches. Intimate atmosphere. Sound system wise they have new speakers, the Turbo Whoomps, which sound great. I feel more comfortable at Monday Social than any other venue I've been to - it just feels like home, with their fireplace, friendly people.... it's like a get together of good friends. Met Jody after the show, super friendly, silly, down-to-earth guy. Overall, great night. Monday Social is my favorite event, 'nuff said! :happy2: |
