I have been djing for about a year now, and I would really like to get into scratching/hiphop/turntablism/smapling ya da ya da. What company makes the best mixer? I am looking for a 3+ channel mixer.

For a 3 channel I'd go with the Rane Empath, but for turntablism you only need a 2 channel.

...and for 2 channel "battle" mixer you could try & find a used Pio DJM707 (it was discontinued to try & make peeps buy the 909) or go the whole hog & get a Pio DJM909 (still available new). Adjustable curves on xfader & line faders, cut/lag adjustment, reverse option for faders, feeling adjust on the xfader (ie stiff or loose or anything in between), fader start (in conjunction with CDJ's), 50 odd FX accessable via touch screen, set up & amend you own banks of 9 FX for each channel, timing parameters for all FX which can be further adjusted via a dial, further FX adjustments to cut out any combo of hi's mids & lows. Many features I dont actually use spinnin trance :p but I got the rig at a good price so thought why not take the plunge :D

Pricey but a rock solid unit :)

PS The 707 is the same as 909 without the FX

You will find that most scratch mixers are two channel. You should check this link out. It will help you out a lot.

If you are going to scratch a lot, I would go with either the Rane TTM56 or TTM57. There are some other mixers that have a non-contact (optical or magnetic) crossfader like the Pioneer 909 but I'm not sure of any of those also have that on the individual line faders. The Rane 56 and 57 have magnetic (never wear out and get staticy) faders on both the crossfader and the line ones.
