And no, not boners! lol!!
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up since I've had so many ask what's going on with my surgery.
About a year and a half ago my left shoulder started hurting so much that i couldn't lift it up over my head to write on the board at school. Hoping it would go away, i waited for about 6 months to go to the doctor. they took x-rays and saw "something" so they sent me for an MRI (which is the worst ever for claustorphobic people). the MRI showed that i had a bulging disk in my neck that has been pushing against my spinal cord in a very dangerous way and started to cause nerve damage in both my hands. you know how you feel after the dentist when you get a novicaine shot and you're starting to come out of it??? well that's the way my hands feel all the time :whip:
the doctor wanted to do the surgery about 6 months ago but i have been not only scared but wanted to wait until school was out. that just seemed like too much time out of work and i felt bad about leaving my students that long.
about a month ago my left leg went numb. the back of my leg and foot now can't feel temperatures which is kinda freaky and it's really weird when i run, my foot goes completely numb with no feeling at all. i have continued to teach at the gym and of course go out and dance much to my doctors dismay but i'm not one to follow orders and stay still. i would go insane!!!
i have been in severe pain in my neck now for about a year and a half and vicodine just doesn't do it for me anymore so i finally decided to have the surgery.
and here's what they are going to do: the doctor is going to cut a lateral insicion across my neck (nice scar btw, will be left) pull the vertebrate back into allignment with the others away from my spine, insert 2 cadaver bones (ugh, dead people will be inside me) in between my C4 and C5 and then fuse my neck together with a steel plate. so as you can see i have been quite hesitant about going through with this but the alternative is worse, eventually the damage would be so great that i would probably lose the use of my legs and as most of you who know me, that is not an option!!! i love to dance too much.
i try not to complain about the pain, mostly michelle hears me bitch about it but other than that, bitching doesn't help it so why bother. drinking has helped, lol. but it's time. i will be in a neck brace for about 3 weeks and hopefully back to my full, idiotic self in about 6 weeks and back on the dance floor in no
time.
my surgery is scheduled for june 28th so it looks like the last time i'll be out for awhile is rank 1 and christopher lawrence at vanguard. lol, atleast i get to go to this now!!! i know, i'm an idiot. but anyways, if you get bored and wanna come entertain me while i'm laid up please feel free to stop by, as many of you have afterhoured it at my place at some point or time so please stop by :tongue2
i'll most likely be heading to atlanta after july 9th to finish my recovery at home with my family and be back at the end of july. it sucks b/c my whole world is going to change for a bit and to tell you the truth, i'm ing scared to death :nervous: so send warm, fuzzy vibes and your prayers too, i could use them.
okay thanks for reading and i'll see you soon on the dance floor :D
P.S. and with my big ugly scar bas i guess i will really fit your description of LATA girls  |

You'll be better than before in no time.
After the surgery think like you're already recovered. You'll be amazed at how fast the recovery process took you. |

Sarah,
Congrats on taking the big step so that you can keep stepping.. :)
Good luck and good vibes, time will fly and we'll see you back out soon on the podiums.
Don't think of it as dead people inside of you; more like they are just SPARE PARTS!
Best wishes,
Chris |

I'm sad I'm not going to be able to party with you that weekend of your surgery :( But no worries, I'll just have to pick up the party slack in your absence ;)

Noooooo, 6 weeks without Sarah!!!! :( :( :( :(
Good luck with all that... another good thing about the surgeory is that you'll have a much needed break from partying/clubs/alcohol/party favors, etc.... so once you get back on your feet, you'll be even more excited to party again! :toothless |
