I'm not sure what I'm looking for but I think it's called an amplifier... or maybe an equalizer? Anyways, I have a pair of decent headphones and I recently just hooked it up my 2 speaker stero and found that the sound quality was much better than through my laptop. I could adjust the bass and treble accordingly and get a much richer sound from my headphones than I have ever had while connecting it to the laptop. However, my stero does not connect to the laptop so I cant listen to any of the trance. I decided to hook up my 2-speaker 1 sub system to my headphones that CAN connect to my laptop. However, I realized that when I tuned my bass, it didnt tune the bass on my headphones but on the external sub. So, now I'm looking for some kind of amplifier/equalizer that can adjust both bass and treble though a mini-stereo audio input/output.

any ideas where I could get one?

what program are you using to play your cd/file on your laptop?

i usually use VLC. I know winamp has a built in equalizer but that doesnt improve change sound quality because the same about of power comes out from the laptop. Hooking the headphones up to a stero allowed major audio quality improvements that I have never experienced.
