First of all, I know this isn't about Trance Music, but if you can't see then it's harder to move around the dance floor so somehow it must all be related...
Last week, AMO announced a complete recall of their Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution (FDA release: http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01641.html).
For some yet unknown reason, users of this solution have come down with a higher than usual number of cases of Acanthamoeba keratitis (some parasite that's in water). The chance of getting it is rare, but it can cause severe corneal damage and blindness, apparently after just one exposure.
If you use this solution, you can call 1-888-899-9183 and AMO will send you a return kit (so I think you get your money back on it). I've been using this stuff for at least 5 years, but just threw away my lens case and lenses and started over fresh just to be safe. Doing some research, I decided to switch to Opti-Free Express, which is rated better for corneal staining (wtf! http://www.staininggrid.com/ ) with my brand of contacts.
Just wanted to let everyone know, since I found out about this recall almost by accident after seeing a story that AMO's stock price had dropped due to a recent recall. So, if this post saves one person from going blind or getting some severe eye infection, then it's worth it! Some people are even going back to cleaning their contacts with hydrogen peroxide solutions and separate cleaning solution rather than multi-purpose ones, but I think (hope) the others are still o.k.! :nervous: hmmm, time for LASIK? :conf: |

don: this isnt the first time this has happened with this company this year! i dont use their products but knowing that this is the 2nd time in 6 months i REALLY wont ever use their products.
ps: my buddies mom used to work for an optometrist and said that opti-free products are the best. better than renu. |

while overall i would agree...your eyes are one of the few things that cant be replaced. |

my buddies mom says it helps with the ph balance of the eye too. which also helps prolong the deterioration of your contacts. :) |
