thanks for sharing that info, Don!

Anyone witnessing the Wellesley stage in recent years knows that's *the* place to be...so I'm surprised they f'd it up this year.

potentially no Robb G and abbreviated head-to-head slots for you guys...well, that's better than nothing, but still pretty damn weak on the organizers' part :\

(I think it's time for another "retirement" boat cruise...call it what you want this time...a "rebirth" cruise, lol...because the last one was WAY too much fun :D )

The better news is that our stage will be in a licensed area,

never stopped me from indulging in previous years. :D

exactly...I'm glad to here that the stage is going on this year - but damn - this is going to be an even more expensive pride now that I need to pay for drinking on Sunday night

If I didn't know any better I might almost think they moved this event into a beer garden in order to make the money on the alcohol and sales...but they wouldn't do that on purpose would they?

:P

How many people does this venue accomodate?

Graham - this is the biggest stage area for the Pride parties. Will it hold the number of people that were on the Street the previous years? NO!

Will we have a good time? Yes, as long as anyone who wants to be there is in the beer garden by say 6 or 7 PM at the latest.

Pre drinks at my place as you know.

Always a true professional...thanks for the great response.

But, screw tact...they screwed up what was one of the best events in Toronto...

At least they saw the error of their way and have tried to make the best of a ed up situation.

+1 to MarkT - another boat cruise this summer...

See you there Don.

My first thought upon reading Don's post. "Lack of access for emergency vehicles" my ass.

Agreed. I believe in the 'If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix it" mentality. We have spent many years building and developing that stage but it was the party people and the crew that have continued to support us every year that has made this particular event easily my favorite of the year!

I was telling the crew a few weeks ago how I remember the days when I first started spinning (MANY moons ago) at a small town gay bar. Being afraid of getting 'gay bashed' when leaving the club alone at night was a regular reality.

If someone would've told me that years later, I was going to be part of an event where there was a complete mix of people (str8, gay, bi, sideways, curious and everyone in between), I would've laughed.

What also is really meaningful to me is:
- the amount of people who have come up to me and said how they used to be really homophobic but how events like this have really changed their mind
- bouncers who told me they used to beat up and make fun of gay people when they were younger and now, their mentality has changed
- looking out into the sea of partiers and seeing 1/2 of the Guvernment crowd, Comfort Zone fiends, Vice spring chickens, Footwork headz, Fly revellers, full on ravers, mums and dads with kids in tow, leather daddies and muscle mutts and a few young 'uns who haven't come out yet but are feeling very comfortable and accepting in the motley crew of people
- and of course, the HOTTIES! (Yumm!)

For us that have been a part of this for years, this is WAY more than just a gig and I REALLY hope that the 'powers that be' at Pride can see that.

So, I hope we will see you all on Sunday at our new location at Church & Wood!

HAPPY PRIDE!
