That sort of behaviour is not uncommon among herd animals though it's more seen for defensive purposes. Put the kids and the old in the middle and the mature males form a ring around them with their horns sticking out. Yeah. No animal likes to run into sharp pointy things.
I am surprised by the organized gangbeat on the lions though. Never heard of that before.
LOL. This is just like a gang war. Lions take down one of the buffaloes. Buffaloes come back with 50 of his buddies for payback. :D
edit: That calf lived through all that? Man. Some other carnivore is going to get an easy meal the next time |

Ya you're right. I don think that the calf would last long.
P.S I love the nature, I was also thinking how amazing it is that us human beeings were originaly from nature and now we developed to a point that it's no longer a normal scene for us. when we see such scenes we get so excited while there was a time we were 100% involved in nature. |
