Ok before I start, i have to say don't make fun, i am pretty new.

How and at what point do you increase the pitch on a track that is already playing?
Or, do you always just pitch the cued track??

The reason I ask is because I don't want my mixes to be at a steady BMP throughout.

Thanks

Also, its a real bitch figuring out which track will mix good with another track. Is there some kind of secret way to make this easier?:conf:

what you can do is, while track A is playing through the master, cue track B and match the pitch of both tunes in your head phones, and when your ready to start a transition, press play and move the pitch of track B to match the speed of track A, presto.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but that would just keep the BPM the same..NO??

Track A is lets say 130 and Track B is 132
By pitching B to match A, Track B will now be 130.

What I want is to pitch track A to 132. But i don't want it to be noticeable while its playing, so in how many increments is good to pitch it up or whatever???

I hope I am making sense..

it doesn't really matter, with today's technology, digital pitch movemnt doesn't really alter tracks, meaning harmonics and what not won't sound iregular

oh one more thing :)

what about finding tracks that blend well into each other. Is there something to look for? or what? Or how do I determine if the tracks are in the same key, or even what key they are in??

when you purchase tracks, use what sounds best to you and when you mix you'll find out if your really a dj when you choose what tracks to play after another without detetcing bpm or harmonic key.

here's some advice

go to a record store

experiment

Does not matter really sometimes i have 1 record on -1% and the other +4% on the pitch just get it beatmatched if it sounds crap then maybe try a diff record thats got a closer bpm.

true, true

i have pretty cd-decks, but that tempo-lock feature is a miracle worker when it comes to very risky transitions!
