guys i have 2 sound cards in my pc, and an external Numark Dm950.
ive tried using DSS DJ ...iu love the way it works...i can use it as im using ttables or cdjs in the sense that each deck i assigned one soundcard so it allows me to hear one deck on the headhphones while the other is playing out on the speakers...soundcards do support mixing! but i cant record! dunno y!! do i need some software or hardware device to do scuh....plus
i have used tracktor dj 3.....i cant seem to figure out how to use my external mixer and use both my sound cards at the same time..i mean i cant seem to assign one sound card to each deck and use my external mixer as well...
any suggestions on how i can fix the problem on DSS as that is my software of preference...plus is it possible to use 2 soundcards on traktor + external mixer...
if not, are there any softwares which will allow me to record my sets using both the sound cards...if not, are there any external devices that i may purchase to solve my problem?
help would be greatly appreciated as i have been mixing for a while but havent been able to record my sets and get them out to ppl...your help would really be appreciated...thank you in advance...

| Get a multichannel soundcard, route the signals one for each track, and use the line in for recording. No need for two soundcards ;) |

As far as Traktor goes, i don't think you can use it with 2 soundcards. It asks in the preferences to select 1 soundcard. |

| you can cheat that with ASIO4ALL or something similar... |

| If your using windows, I don't think you can use both sound cards at the same time, I use XP and had two in my computer for awhile because I was too lazy to take the old one out, I then discovered TRAKTOR and started using it to DJ, I then tried to use both sound cards, one for the master and one for cue but when i installed one, Xp uninstalled the other. Thinking I knew better than windows (which really isn't hard) I forced the windows to recognize both and as soon as it did, BAM! blue screen of death. When I removed one of them my computer booted again, so long story short, XP does not support multiple sound cards, at least for me. I found the same thing goes for sound cards and on board sound, though these were internal cards, maybe external is different. |

| i got traktor to work with 2 soundcards on xp with no problems. but this was years ago and i only used it to try if i'd like djing and then went and bought cdjs and a mixer. anyway, the lesson of the story: it can be done. |

as someone already mentioned try doing something creative with ASIO4All or if you have a mac the aggregate device function.

about two sound cards not being able to run on windows simultaneosuly, DSS DJ does allow that...i was using dss dj with an on board sound card ( i hoppe thats the same thing as the one on the mother board) and another soundcard i put it ( this one wasnt external...i think its in the pci slot or something) and my external mixer...it would allow me to do everything perfectly except record...
so let me see if i understand you guys properly...now with Traktor, i can use one multi channel sound card (thanks TARPEX)which allow me to assign each channel to each deck ( i hope that means i can have the sound of one deck...DECK A...coming out of the speakers, while the sound of the other deck...DECK B...is coming out through my headphones while im cueing it, and then i can use the crossfader on my external mixer to shift the sound coming out of my main speakers from deck A to deck B...just as i would use turntables or any device...if that is possible with a multi channel sound card and an external mixer where i can do the above thing, my problem is solved)
i hope i have understood you guys correctly, if not, forgive me i am new at this...it will take me a while to understand the ins and outs of the setup...thanks for your patience and help... |
