scams you've pulled?

I'm in the process of pulling off a good one. I'm in culinary school and I picked up some freelance work at a restaurant that is putting on some fundraiser and needed extra help. I was cutting up some oyster mushrooms and took a break to use the restroom. The head chef at the restaurant took the liberty of using and then sharpening my 2 day old $88 knife. little did he know it's special kind of knife and needs to be sharpened a certain way. So he ended up putting some light scratches on the side of the knife, but nothing that affects how it cuts. I put up a stink because everyone knows you don't with other peoples' knives. he apologized profusely and told me to send him the receipt for a replacement and he would send me a check. I took it to the local cutlery store and the guy confirmed that it was merely cosmetic damage and wouldn't affect the blade. Here's where I get crafty - I bought another one of the same knife, put the receipt in my pocket, and immediately asked for a refund (I told the clerk my plan ahead of time). I then selected a different knife that was $107. After tax and my student discount (which I didn't have the clerk apply to the fake replacement knife purchase), it was $96 (-$88 that the guy owes me = $8).

CORe version: I got this $107 knife for $8.

Anyone have similar tales of craftiness?

the girl that works at the Mobil just north of my office always charges me for an 8 oz Red Bull when i'm buying the 12 oz Red Bull.

it only saves me $0.50, but it makes me feel like a winner every single time.

heheh :)

i never done this, but this is my beautiful idea.
old people are pretty stupid when it comes to computers, although they have heard about how the internet can steal ur naked pictures and SSNs and whatever.
So, buy a shoebox and some ducttape. Wrap the shoebox in ducttape so that it can not be penetrated.
First, look at the wireless networks around your neighborhood to see if there are any networks unsecured/unencrypted. Put in the very few different default combinations for router access (192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.0), and the default admin names/passwords (it should be Username: Admin, Password: (leave blank).
this will put you into the router admin screen. Now block port 80 (which will block http access.
put on some glasses and go to their house with your shoebox and say casually:
"hello, i'm SuspicionXT and i'm currently going door to door offering my network services to protect your internet and privacy, so that YOU DO NOT DIE."
They will likely respond "hmmmm, well my internet stopped working. The router is on, the light is blinking like its doing something, but my Internet Explorer/Firefox won't connect to anything."

next, show them your shoebox covered in duct tape, but call it a Wireless Tiesto, which is YOUR brand new unreleased product that will save their network and protect their LIVES. But, since it's very expensive, you can only lease it, but for a cheap price of $5.00 a month.

Put the shoebox next to their router and warn them NOT to open it, because of static, X-rays, radiation, etc. Then, in their house, simply repeat the Admin access to unblock port 80, their internet will be fixed!
Then, encrypt their network with your own password so they can't change .
Every 2 weeks or so, come back to their lawn/driveway, break the network again and within 30 minutes, knock on their door and say "Your Wireless Tiesto pinged me saying your network was down, i'm here to fix it"
They will say "ooooo suspicionXT, you're my hero"

I bought 10 Ipods 20GB (the biggest they got back then) from Target for 40% off with a barcode scam. Sold all but one. Profit plus free Ipod.

A friend of mine earned $50k from online gambling sites by taking advantage of their $50 promotional giveaway to play blackjack.
