It's not only lyrics that qualify a track for being cheesy
this track has a fairly cheesy 'beat' and some of the rolloffs/buildups are quite trite IMO, if you listen closely you start to see guidos popping out of the screen. There are quite a few old pvd tricks re-hashed here. Forgive me for saying this, but it's a stupid, mindless track for stupid, mindless clubbers, who water down the scene and remove it from cultural significance. Granted, I like it more than other PvD productions. The (read this to learn about how PvD has forsaken berlin)
This is a regressive track for a regressive culture
This will make people dance for sure, but I like to imagine a world where electronic music is more than 'simply' dance music. |

Loved the last sentence. I hate it when people *cough* TYAS *cough* say " Oh, the scene shouldn't be take seriously" when they know how passionate some of us are about edm. It kills me, well said. |

Elaborate this. I don't really see how the beat is cheesy, unless you consider high-tempo, high-energy beats inherently cheesy.

I think your problem is you're bringing the wrong sort of expectations to this track. I'm a huge fan of dance music than transcends the dancefloor, but that doesn't remove the worth of pure dance music.
Acid house is, by your criteria, "stupid, mindless track for stupid, mindless clubbers, who water down the scene and remove it from cultural significance", because it's pure dance music. Of course, acid house gets off because it has the 303 and you can slap all kinds of terms like "mind-warping" and "psychedelic" to it, but the fact remains.
In an age where trance is usually full of momentum-killing breakdowns and pop elements, this is a welcome return to a no-bull attitude that PVD used to do well.
Being unpretentious does not equate to being cheesy. |

Haha, I knew I was going to get that response about "mindless" music.
You definitely have a good point. Dance music has always been sort of mindless...
re: cheesy. I can't really elaborate on that since one man's 'cheese' is another man's 'chocolate' (i can't believe i just wrote that) but basically what i feel is that a track like that reduces dancing to stupid bouncing, inspires things like the melbourne shuffle, guido pec bumbling, a track so obnoxious in tone and structurally clear that it demands a singular interpretation and crowd response.
some people like this because they like being in a 70,000 person trance energy mob bouncing for hours fist pumping, but I guess I think that's not a sustainable way of life or style of music.
With that said, all this track will ever be will be a big bang. If that's what PvD meant in titling the track, then cheers to him for being smart about it and commenting on club culture.
Look, I think you're right about the no-bull stuff here, but I can just read from the track the sort of people that paul van dyk is targeting here, and I think that those people are generally detrimental to musical progress and club culture. I don't mean you personal offense with this statement, because I don't think you are part of the 'target'.
And you're right - not everything needs to be trancendental. But guess what, who are the ambassadors of dance music presenting it to the world? It's people like PvD and these tracks are the tracks that make first impressions on people. This album is what some people will think of when they think 'trance', and it's what they'll tell there high school friends trance music is.
with that said, if it stops people from listening to anthem, it's all good |

I suppose that's true enough, because there's not much to dance to. Trouble is, I can never dance to trance very well, because the bassline is usually incredibly simple. |

I feel that in what I consider 'better' trance music what makes one dance is the syncopated rhythms of arpeggiated leads and basslines and the light high percussion. It's like there was a part of each frequency in the track that affected another part of your body and just made you mad, every part of your body resonating with the music
this track to me is more like

there's nothing inherently wrong with 'bouncing' just like there's nothing inherently wrong with adam sandler movies.
