I have been a silent fan of timbaland for years...his work with Missy Elliott was awesome. I heard some of his early work when I was up in NY back in early 90's the guy has a sound that makes just about everyone's heads bop....
Some of today's biggest Pop Artists owe their success to his groove...knocking someone who likes his style or a style that you think is stupid is really childish... NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!! ;) |

I think as far as mainstream music goes, Timbaland is miles ahead of the game. His production is tight, he turns dodgy artists into highly listenable (poppy) dancefloor fodder, and it works, it really does. I take my hat of to him, no commercial producer is on his level, and when he gives up on mainstream & turns to house, I'll be waiting...
Heaven knows, how much worse Sexyback could have been if he hadn't played with Justin's vocal? |

| Don't waste your hate on Timbaland, there are so many artists and producers that deserve it so much more |

Why is this song anything special?
The lyrics are warmed-over, adolescent tripe, and the production has nothing novel or even especially complex or skillful.
I just don't get it. |

Production in Trance is different from House or R&B, that's all I can say. It doesn't aim for the same things.
Second, the lyrics. Pretty much no one writes decent lyrics these days. ;) |

the thing about this is that it is impressive, not that youtube vid, its . but that timbo has managed to collect everything about edm trance that people fell for in 97-02 and re-package it into rnb hip hop.
|
exactly. timbo is pushing boundaraies in mainstream hip hop. if you dont like it, then you dont, but no sense in bashing other peoples tastes. i listen to mainstream hip hop and this is miles ahead of any other club tracks. |

| It's average, on the brink of starting to suck, really. I CAN see myself dancing to this, but it's nothing I'd do more than a few times. |

| This kind of Tidewater house is actually pretty popular in that area. I wouldn't be surprised if it started to permeate its way into Clear Channel stations like crunk did in the early part of 2000. |
