There is a growing market in outsourcing information technology (IT) in Australia, spurred by decisions of several large companies as well as the Australian government. The incidence of outsourcing among Australian firms has steadily increased.
The nature of and motivations for outsourcing have evolved; for example, cost saving is no longer the prime motivator. The three most important factors driving outsourcing in Australia like the other countries are access to skills, improved service quality and the resulting increase in the managements’ ability to focus on core business activities.
Though bigger firms were generally inclined to outsource their IT there has been a significant shift in increase in outsourcing among comparatively smaller firms. This speaks well for the future of outsourcing.
The factors most associated with successful IT outsourcing were Partnerships with culturally matched vendor and client. Outsourcing is becoming increasingly popular. Outsourcing of many business processes is becoming increasingly frequent in Australia.
India is in a unique position to tap into this gold mine of opportunities. The cultural background of India is suited to the Australians way of working. In an environment where the diversity of culture and preferences from within and outside is tolerated partnerships of mutual benefit flourish. |
