Bought this a few months ago after doing quite a bit of research. Been very happy with it so far. Highly recommended. |

Being that I work at a Camera store, I can tell you that Sony's sell ALOT more than Canon's, and its my experience that Sony digital cameras take better pictures (not including the SLRs).
Check out:
Canon SD750
Sony N2
Fuji Finepix S700
Casio EXZ1000/1050
I ship out over 200 packages a day for the store, those 4 are quite commonly ordered lately (aside from all the SLR cameras that ship). |

The Canon SD (Ixus in Europe) range ROCK!
My Ixus 40 (SD300) has served me excellently for the past 2.5 years.
Class pictures even though it only has 4MP and no IS :)

| I'm thinking of picking up either a A570 IS or SD750. |

if your considering the 750 dont. get the 800. i was comparing the 700, 750, and 800, and while the 750 has 1 or 2 things that are nice, the IS and the wide angle lens are 2 things i wouldnt sacrifice. |

| I use a Canon SD750 for casual shots (out with friends, etc.) and a Rebel XTI 10.1 MP for more "serious" photography. The SD800 is nice, but it'll get you easily into the over $300 dollar range, which looks to be above what you'd like spend. I like the SD750, and actually the SD1000 is the exact same camera, but has a smaller LCD and is about $50 less. I'd recommend the SD750 or SD1000 as an excellent sub-$300 (closer to $200) point and shoot. |
