Hey,
long time since I last posted a track here.
This one is called "Twisted Ideal" and its a hybrid between a Dark Psy track and a cathy anthem.

Enjoy! :)

Kick is excellent, altho every second time it hits it is masked by the clap, nothing wrong with that tho, thats how it is usually is in dark, since dark tends to be perc focused for the most part, i must say its a very clean mix, especially in the low region of sound spectrum, i ran it loud and it sounds good, impressive job on bass too, those sweeping effects are very cool, sounds like something i bought in the store.
Lilith
I've got a spot in a mix for this already, has just the right kind of driving melodies which would fit in. As a suggestion, the bass is a little low and flat through most of it and the drum kick is a little high pitched, what could be done is to have the bass drum kick as low pitched as the bass is, swap the bass sounds around for a slap-pop funk style if you wanted to keep that percussive high pitched sound in there?
Just a thought anyway, doesn't detract from me liking it any less :)
Akia
Nice drive and awesome dark-psy atmosphere! I love that piano melody! Great job and thanks for sharing!

big file man hahahahaha 30 megs is BIG SONG LOL 320kbps ftw hahaha

whoa the start really is twisted, like that lots.

always like your style of psy trance, that typical bass and punchy kick is always sick to hear.
hihat sounds good too.

interesting melodies, lots of driving and even a higher melody that makes it a sorta trancer of sorts.

the vocs a bit unheard, but i guess that adds to the atmosphere n all.
4:10 funky stuff

5:29 now didnt that just change Lol
nice mix up

6:39 that's a nice piano melody, really suits well, i like the voc build up towards it aswell.

interesting ending and interesting song :D
top work as always, thanks for sharing.
Bidor
i forgot i had downloaded this...

nice intro pads very dark... man you must have been very angry when you made this tune:p ing nice bass! very driving. cool fx at 2:16.. the synth at 2:30 is cool, nice vocals to.. i like the 2nd part of the tune with the 2nd bassline pure awesomeness:D your getting better with every track i hear from you! piano? sweet!

this definatly is your best so far! keep up the good work.:D

i thing i did missed is that the tune doesnt really have a breakdown... maybe try to make one with some dark pads like in the intro? either way still awesome!

Very interesting. Beginning seemed to be preparing me for a drum and bass song. Not that that's bad necessarily. I think it's got a good build-up though. I like the effects. I like that open hi-hat. I'm wondering if the anthem part/hook could come in sooner but that's probably just my lack of experience with trance and what really works on the dance floor.

Honestly, you've got it together a lot better than me so I wanted to ask you advice. If you could think of a handful of things that you try to keep in mind in designing your transitions, what would they be? I suck at transitions. They're either cheesy and predictable or they're abrupt. I'm going to be putting a track up in a few minutes. I'd appreciate your input since you know what you're doing.

Peace out,

Skeet skeet...You make great music man. Makes me jealous at times. I don't know how you do it.

Your melody line is ed up...its like not in any normal scale.
Van Deka
i usually dont even listen to psy
but man this was a banger the whole way through

although i think the beginning could use some better mastering
MegaMan
obviously someone does not know the definition of pre-mastering :)

Thank you MegaMan, Lilith, Akia, AniG, Bidor, AgentStarchild, Frost and Van Deka. Your comments are a lot of help to me!

@Lilith: Cool you want to include this in a mix... let me know when its done :) .. Ive tried experimenting with several basses here and I agree there could be a little bit more flow in the basslines. I'll look at that.

@AniG: I am still a little stuck with the second transition at 5:30 ... I should create a better flow between dark and melodic I guess. Thanks for your input anyway.

@Bidor: Maybe a breakdown is just what I need to get this flowing :) ... Thanks mate.

@Starchild: My key for good transitions is just cool samples. Or I just use some sick FX unit like dblue glitch to mash up the sounds, try looking for it, its a fun tool. A simple yet effective way to achieve a transition is taking out the percussion for the last 1/2/4 bars of a 16 bar sequence. Or you switch on some FX units on single instruments or even the master channel on the last 1/2/4 bars of a 16 bar sequence, then turn it back off again. A good way would be to render a single instrument track to wav and then mess around with it. Sometimes simply reversing does the trick, sometimes slicing and chopping, the possibilities are endless.

@frosty: Yea, its interesting how much effect a little detuning can have on the melody line.

@MegaMan: Glad to have your ears on this one, if you say somethings mastered well its usually a good detector how good this sounds in a club ;)
