something very easy, if some1 can tell me.
i have several small images being used as thumbnails.
to each thumbnail, id just like to apply a black border to each side, 2 pixels deep.
once i figure out how to do one, i can automate it and run it on the rest.
for those posts who are completly irelevent, dumb, and make no sense, thanks because i would do the same.
for real help, thanks too, haha. |

| right click the layer, blending options > stroke |

If each thumbnail image is in it's own document/file, you're in luck.
Keystrokes work in Windows.
Open image in Photoshop.
Select all (ctrl+a).
stroke with appropriate color (black), 2 pixels, inside. (alt,e,s)
save.
Repeat as necessary.
The stroke settings will carry over between uses, so you can just automate the select & stroke bits.

if you have a lot of images, i'd suggest making an action and running a batch on them :) |

is that filter > brush stroke > x ??
and yes, once i figure it out i will automate it.

Open one image first.
Click on the 'Actions' tab (should be beside History tab).
Click the 'create new action' page icon at the bottom of the panel.
Give your new action a name. It should automatically start recording whatever action you preform on your image.
Do whatever you want to do, like adding a black pixel border.
When you're finished, click the little stop icon at the bottom of the Actions panel.
Now that you have your action set up, just go to File > Automate > Batch.
Select your new action from the dropdown list. Pick your source folder, and your destination folder, and whatever other settings you want.
Run the batch.
Done. |

yea i know how to automate.
ive already used that resizing a few hundred pictures.
i need to learnm how to apply this border. |

Oh.. if you already know how to automate and just want to add a border..
Right click on your layer. Select 'blending options'.
Your layer style window will pop up.
Select 'Stroke' on the left hand side.
Increase the size and colour to whatever you want.
Change the postition to 'inside'.
Hit OK.
Done. |

| Oh and I don't think you can apply layer styles to your 'Background' layer. So, you may have to just right click on your Background layer and duplicate it. Then, apply the stroke to the duplicated layer. |

base on your posts, i figured this out.
open image.
create new layer.
select all.
right click layer > stroke
- width = 2 px
- color = black
- location = inside
- rest = default
that works perfectly.
now to automation lol. |

ok how about this.
what if i want to apply this border to the outside.
if the image is 100x100, applying the border to the inside like i did will make the image 196x196, with the remaining pixels representing the black border.
same image, 100x100, applying the border to the outside will make the image 104x104, but you cant see the border because the canvas is still only 100x100. any help ?? |
