heres the deal...

ive used virtual turntables on my computer for 2 months or so... no problems watsoever... then my brother installs windows XP (we had millenium before) and since he's done that, some songs 'skip' as they play, which makes it impossible to mix as you can imagine.. one second the beats are matched, then the next thing u know one song is a beat ahead...

can anyone help me out here.. keeping in mind that im not the most computer orientated person, so u might have to explain things S L O W L Y..

cheers ppl

I Don't Think There's Anything You Can Do But Here's What I Would Do:

1)Backup My Stuff And Format My PC. Then Install Win98 SE Which Is The Best. Millenium Is A Sorry Excuse For An OS And WinXP Is Nice But Has Many Bugs.

2)Install More Memory On My PC Although This May Not Solve The Problem.

You Can Also Take It To A Technician So He Can Tell You If You Can Fix It Without Doing One Of The Above. Anyhow, I Hope I've Helped.

i say buy more ram, since its dirt cheap these days you could put like 256 megs in there for ALOT less than buying tables since you seem to be happy using virtual ones..

winxp has many compatablity issues with many things ..... thats why i dont like xp cuz youll have to buy new printers and scanners if xp arent compatiable with them...so mayb winxp has a compatibilty issue with the program u use

i have winME and it skips all the fuking time.. doesn't matter if i use winamp, winMedia player, or anything that plays music, it will skip

Ok guys here is the answer you are looking for:

The reason the music skips is because you do not have enough ram!!!!
Don't blame WinXP, I have been using it since it came out and have had very few problems. Considering how many problems I had with Win98 and millenium, XP is the best OS up to this day.
Now the reason it started skipping after the upgrade, is because XP uses much more ram than previous operating systems. So your best bet is to upgrade the ram, and it will never skip again.

hmmm well i already have 256 megs of ram as it is... are u saying i need even more??

Spin Doctor
Defragging the HD might help a bit.

Even if it doesn't, you still should regularly do it ;)

Yea man, you need even more than that. I had 256 when i just started using XP, and it skipped all the time. When i got an upgrade, not only is your computer super fast now, it doesn't skip.
