hope is the denial of reality = (paraphrased) go through life with your eyes open, keep an open mind but don't get swindled by bull or unsubstantiated nonsense or "hopes".
so im not getting how that quote is at odds with what ive posted.
sure, a kid MIGHT emulate what they see in a game. but that's the price, we as a society, must be willing to accept in order to receive the benefits of particular activities. we're all ready to accept road deaths so we can have vehicles. objectification of women so we can have porn. drink driving, violence, poor judgement, bad mixing so we can have alcohol. etc etc etc.
the above should be limited as much as possible, but you can't take the worst case scenario as a reason for banning anything. its illogical and completely inconsistent. |

Memory is not very well understood, but today we understand principles such as encoding that are necessary for the retention of data. Some kind of vessel holding water with holes in it is not a catch-all for the word retention. We think of it as paths of less resistance when we are referring to the chemical neuro-net that makes up the human brain. Like I said though, memory is ill-understood but we do know enough to know memory doesnt literally dribble out. |
